QUETTA:

On Sunday a horrible video emerged in social networks, which represents the brutal murder of a man and a woman in Baluchistan, in the name of the so -called honor, sending shock waves throughout the country and beyond.

As the video extended as a forest fire, the public retreated incredulously. The graphic images caused immediate outrage, lighting a storm of the conviction of civil society, religious scholars and political leaders equally.

The victims, whose identities were not known immediately, were allegedly attacked by their own members of the family or community, a gloomy reminder of the archaic and mortal tradition of honor murders that continues to affect parts of Pakistan.

The video supposedly showed that a few armed men were apparently shooting and killing a man and a woman publicly. In this video, all people spoke in the Brahui language and their accent was the same as the spoken in different areas of Quetta and Mastung, according to BBC.

Apparently, the video is done in a mountainous area where there is a desert around a dirt road. At first, you can see several vehicles and jeeps in full daylight, outside of which there are several people.

Apparently, these men ask a woman dressed in a red dress and a wheat chapter that stops at a distance from the vehicles. During this, the woman could be heard in Brahui that “it is only allowed to shoot, nothing more.” The woman did not resist, rather she was silent away from the vehicles.

After this conversation, some shots also shot one by one. According to the BBC, it was not clear in the video if the man or the woman was shot first, however, after the first round of shooting, a voice is heard saying “kill him”, which is followed by the sound of multiple shots.

Speaking to the media at the Karachi Press Club, the Baluchistan government spokesman Shahid Rind, confirmed that the incident took place in Baluchistan, but did not say when and where in the province. He revealed that a defendant had been arrested.

“The names of the deceased have been obtained, and the tribes to which they belonged, but cannot be revealed at this time,” he said. His bodies had not yet been recovered, he continued, also saying that his relatives had not presented any police cases.

“The photos of the video views were given to Nadra [National Database and Registration Authority] And with his help, one of the defendants is arrested. Rexas are being carried out to stop the other defendant, “said Rind.

“Initially, this incident seemed to be taking place in Eidul Azha [which was celebrated in June] But we still can’t confirm it. Both families of the murdered people have not submitted any police report, therefore, there has now been a case in the government complaint, “said Rind.

Baluchistan’s prime minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, realized the incident, ordering an exhaustive investigation and a detailed report on the matter. He ordered the law enforcement agencies to arrest all perpetrators without delay.

“The rule of law will not be compromised. Those who challenge the State’s court order will be firmly. No one will be allowed to take the law in their own hands,” Bugti said in a statement issued by the Secretariat of the Principal Minister.

Rind assured the public that the provincial government would take all legal measures to ensure that justice is delivered. “The Baluchistan government will not continue to be a silent spectator to such cruelty. All legal means will be used to take those responsible to justice,” said Rind.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has also appealed to the public to obtain help to identify suspects. Citizens are urged to share any information that can help locate the people involved.
