- A new packaging leak for DJI Osmo 360 has revealed its potential specifications
- The leak suggests that it will shoot an 8K/30P video and offer a 10 -bit color depth
- It could also cost a little less than the Insta360 x5
The battle of the 360 cameras this year is heating well, and a new leak for one of the main contestants, the DJI Osmo 360, has just given us a solid vision of how it could be compared to the Insta360 x5 class leader.
The packaging filtration, first shared by the reliable Quadro_News in X (below), shows what seems to be the final retail package for the DJI debut 360 camera. And that box easily includes a list of Osmo 360 specifications, which appear (at least on paper) is a little better than the current superior dog in our guide to the best 360 cameras.
Despite the size of this leak, one of the most important specifications, the sensor size, is still clear. The back of the box says that OSMO 360 is capable of “1 inch images 360”. But below, the small impression says “by capturing 360 content, the OSMO 360 CMOS sensor presents an image area equivalent to that of a 1 -inch CMOS sensor.”
Precisely what this means is not yet clear. The previous leaks have suggested that OSMO 360 could have square sensors, which could explain the language “equivalent to” DJI for the image area. In any case, we are likely to have to wait for the official launch to obtain confirmation.

The rest of the filtered specifications are well compared to the Insta360 x5 (see the table below). The 360 OSMO will apparently be able to color 10 bit color; If so, it could offer greater editing flexibility than its rival installs360.
There is also the promise of fixed images of 120mp and a claim of the claimed battery that is seen when it is considered to be cited for an 8K/30P video outlet.
How about the price? As @jasPerellens indicated separately in X, the Osmo 360 filtered box was seen in an Australian store, so its price (from AU $ 759 for the standard package) is for that region. It remains to be seen exactly how that will become for the United States and the United Kingdom, but in theory it compares well with the Insta360 x5.
The X5 starts at $ 550 / £ 520 for its standard package, which does not include accessories such as an additional battery, a load case, a selfie stick or lens protectors that come in the essential package. If we use the Australian price of Osmo 360 as a guide, you should start somewhere around the $ 500 / £ 500 brand.
How do Osmo 360 and X5 compare?
Obviously, there are much more than 360 cameras than only its specifications. The software is particularly important for experience, since the edition is essential when you need to convert 360 degree videos into the traditional ‘plans’.
But according to the specifications and the leaked prices, DJI certainly seems to be entering the 360 space competitively. That is not surprising: Insta360 has dominated 360 cameras for years, and its last fifth generation flagship is excellent, so OSMO 360 should be a strong start for DJI.

If it goes out 360 x5 in some areas (10 -bit recording, a stronger light performance) for a slightly lower price, that will be good news for anyone who is looking to buy a 360 camera. And potentially bad news for GoPro, whose Max 2 is now imminent.
INSTA360 It certainly seems to be defensive, recently launching a large battery reinforcement firmware update for its flagship camera, along with some new accessories and a new BMW Motorrad edition of The X5 for motorcyclists. Let the battle of the 360 camera begin.
