The Edmonton Oilers lead that Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were a ringers at the Magna Center in Newmarket, Ontario, last Wednesday for the beer league game, but they were actually surpassed by their opponents, which have a hockey story for the rest of their lives.

The track is just a few minutes from where McDavid grew, and had his partner in the crime that was put in an oilers shirt with him on the ice.

Fans in the stands could not believe what they saw while watching McDavid and Draisaitl play against loved ones and friends. But Edmonton’s stars did not have the usual point at night.

In fact, none of the players scored a goal.

On the other hand, there were clips that became viral on the social networks of the other team’s goalkeeper making some sweet salvations in the McDavid shots.

Now, it is worth noting that none of the NHL All-Star was skating at full speed and trying to make its offensive magic patented in the ice. However, according to the reports, they found themselves below 4-0 after the first period and finally lost the game, 6-2.

According to reports, ice officials on the track received a warning that the Oilers players were going to play, according to TSN.

McDavid spoke with ESPN, who said it was not his first time on the ice in this league in which he used to play during his Junior Hockey days. In fact, in 2023, he went on to play in the championship game against a team that wore Quinton Byfield on his bank, the Los Angeles Kings star.

“That is a league in which I played with my friends for more than 10 years,” McDavid told ESPN. “We joined that league when I played the junior hockey. I was a little surprised to see that it is exploded. I have been playing in those games for more than a decade. So it’s quite fun that has emerged.”

Maybe McDavid and Draisaitl needed some good vibrations with local players after another defeat for the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup final.

They will try once again during the 2025-26 season to defend their title of the West Conference, and hope they can lift the Lord Stanley Cup instead of going home empty-handed.

While Draisaitl is locked up with the Oilers for the future after inserting an eight -year agreement last year, McDavid is scheduled to become a free free agent after this season.
