The previous policy declared: “To participate in an event sanctioned by the Fencing of the United States, athletes must register with the Fencing of the USA. UU. As the gender in which they identify,” and added that biological men “can only compete in women’s events after completing a calendar year (12 months) of treatment with testosterone suppression.”
USA Fencing announced at the end of April that he was preparing to change his gender eligibility policy to ensure that the category of women would be “open exclusively to female athletes.” The new official policy does not include the “exclusively” language that was used in the April proposal.
USA Fencing has refused to clarify Pak Gazette Digital if the new policy explicitly avoids that all biological men compete in female events. The Fencing of the USA. UU. It also refused to specify how the new policy will apply, if compulsory sexual tests will be implemented or if it will accept modified birth certificates as a birth sex test.
USA Fencing addressed the new policy in a public statement, claiming that the change occurred in response to the new guidelines published by the Olympic and Paralympic Committee of the United States (USOPC).
“On July 18, 2025, the USOPC published new athletes security guidelines that all national government bodies must continue under a federal executive order issued by the President earlier this year. In response, the United States will implement the updated and non -binary updated proxim for each sanctioned competition.
“We remain firmly committed to the respect, equity and well -being of athletes. This update, ordered by Usopc, aligns our sport with current national standards while maintaining the support of the community at the forefront.”

Pak Gazette Digital has communicated with Usopc for a response to the US FENCING statement.
The transgender eligibility policy of the USOPC now includes a note that says: “As of July 21, 2025, see the security policy of Usopc athletes.”
This policy does not establish any clear pattern about trans inclusion in women’s sports. However, it includes a paragraph that directly quotes the “maintenance of men outside women’s sports” by President Donald Trump.
“USOPC will continue to collaborate with several interested parties with supervision responsibilities … to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment consistent with executive order 14201,” says politics.
The Fencing of the United States has been under a national microscope for its gender eligibility policy since April 2, when the images of the female speaker Stephanie Turner kneeling to protest against a trans opponent in a competition in Maryland became viral. Turner was disqualified and gave him a black card for his refusal to face the Trans opponent, which caused a massive reaction against the Fencing of the USA. UU.
The controversy was then subject to a federal hearing on May 7. Government Efficiency Department (Doge) “Uncomiting game: Keep men out of women’s sports” he saw Turner testify against the president of Ee. Uu. Damien Lehfeldt.
At the beginning of June, the US Fencing Board of Directors voted to amend its previous policy that prioritized states with friendly laws with LGBTQ for host sites for competitions and a policy that may have avoided the game of the national anthem in some events. Both policies were also very criticized after Turner’s viral protest.
Then, next week, two members of the Board of Directors of the US fences. UU. They filed a lawsuit against the other six members in general, claiming that Lehfeldt made false statements to Congress at the May 7 hearing. The plaintiffs, Andrey Geva and Abdel Salem, each has long ties with sport and organization, which previously train or compete for the US team.
USA Fencing acknowledged the lawsuit in a statement to Pak Gazette Digital.
“USA. The fencing proudly attends its members (athletes, coaches, referees and clubs) throughout our community with absolute transparency and integrity. This demand derived from our organization, and we will strongly defend the organization in court; any attempt to despise them will be adequately addressed,” said the declaration.
“Because the litigation is in progress, we cannot discuss the details. Our approach remains unwavering: to advance in fences throughout the country, support the success of each member and maintain the values of the Olympic and Paralympic movement.”
