- Trusted Dji Leaker has shared Teaser’s first advance for DJI Romo, from the official Chinese DJI account
- It suggests a launch date on August 6 for the first DJI robot vacuum cleaner
- We also have better quality images of the unusual -looking robot vacuum
Rumors about the first DJI robot vacuum cleaner, the DJI Romo, have been flying for some time, but now we have our first official advance, complete with a projected release date and some good quality images that show more clearly how the bot could be.
The advance of the video was shared by DJI Leaker @jasPerellens regular, and is apparently taken from the official DJI Romo account. It shows two versions of the side side by side, with a date and time: August 6, 8pm. That would suggest that the launch is happening in less than two weeks.
The launch is especially significant because it marks a great change in the brand’s direction, which is previously known to make (well, most) the best drones on the market.
Although a DJI logo is not found in the product and it is the first white plastic that I have seen since the #Mavicair … the official #Djiromo Chino account showed this small teaser video today, showing that they will launch their first vacuum cleaner on August 6. We have also received some clearer images of the void of the robot in real life, courtesy of a second series technology filter, Igor Bogdanov, also known as @quadro_news.
👉 I wish I could also fly. In general, why DJI needs a robot vacuum? 🤔#Djiromo pic.twitter.com/q3xqmwieotJuly 23, 2025
What else do we know about the DJI Romo? Well, I’m quite sure that you can’t fly, so you can rest those dreams of a bot that climbs the stairs to clean the rooms.
From our look inside the dock, we can clearly see a bag of dust, confirming speculation that there will be dust self-strength (far from being innovative, but useful). The previous speculation has suggested that the romo will also have MOP capabilities, although I cannot see anything that seems a water tank on the dock.
That does not necessarily mean that the bot can not mop, but it seems to suggest that it cannot automatically reflect the water tank on board or clean and dry the paddle pads, characteristics that are common among other premium robovacs.
Based on experience we know that Dji does Having, I would expect to see a powerful detection and avoidance of objects. The best DJI drones in the market make use of vision and lidar technology to navigate with precision, just like modern the robovecs.
An unclear choice
Both the advance of the advance and the complementary video clip show the robovac with a transparent upper lid, docked at an equally clear front station. Previously, we were not sure if this transparent plastic was part of a prototype version, but according to this additional evidence, it seems that it will be part of the model that will go to the market, although together with a version with a more traditional and opaque plastic cover on the dock.
In all my time writing about today’s best robot vacuum cleaners, I have never seen one that looks like this. While the spring shape resembles Roborock Qrevo Curv, transparent housing is, as far as I know, a unique feature. It makes sense that DJI tries to create a distinctive aspect for its first incursion in robovacs, and it is an aesthetic that the technological market seems to be adopting at this time. But while putting the interior on the exhibition could work for, for example, the Nothing 3 phone, I am not sure that it is so suitable for a robot vacuum cleaner.
While it looks very good in these promotional photos, I am not convinced that the Romani remain so pristine when the bot is put to work. The bright plastic can attract dust and hair, and it is rare to try a robot vacuum that does not end up covered with fluff in one or two hours of getting it out of the box.
However, I am excited to see what DJI manages to deliver through performance in his first robot vacuum cleaner, and it seems that he might not have too much time to wait.
