A Little League team in Venezuela will not be able to participate in the Senior World League series after its travel visas to the United States was denied.
The team of Cacique Mara, from Maracaibo, Venezuela, was scheduled to participate in the tournament after winning the Latin American championship in Mexico.
However, Venezuela is among a list of countries with restrictions to enter the United States, and President Donald Trump has forbidden to travel to the United States from 12 other countries, citing national security concerns.

The World Baseball Series of the Senior League, a tournament for players from 13 to 16 years, is played every year in Easley, South Carolina, and begins on Saturday.
“The team of Cacique Mara Little League of Venezuela unfortunately could not obtain the appropriate visas to travel to the World Baseball Series of the Senior League,” said Little League International in a statement, and added that it is “extremely disappointing, especially for these young athletes.”

“It is a mockery by the small league to keep us here in Bogotá in the hope that our children can fulfill their dreams of participating in a world championship,” the team said in their own statement. “What do we do with such injustice, what do we do with the pain that was caused to our children?”
The organizers of the tournament replaced Venezuelans with the Santa Maria de Aguayo de Tamaulipas team, Mexico, the team that was runner -up in the Latin American championship.

The Venezuelan team traveled to Colombia two weeks ago to request their visas at the United States Embassy in Bogotá.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
