New York Yankees have a reinforcement on the way before their postseason impulse.
The team acquired the third Ryan McMahon base of the Colorado Rockies in exchange for the smaller league launches Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz, the teams announced on Friday.
McMahon, 30, will fill a hole in a vacuum that the Yankees have had throughout the season in the third base. The Yankees have obtained an OPS of .645 of their third base this season, the eighth worst in the position in the majors.

McMahon has only an average.
While McMahon’s general numbers on the plate are not strong, lately it has hit better. Since May 1, McMahon has an average .246 with 14 homers.
Regardless of how McMahon arrives, it is a great third defensive base that, at least, will improve the defense of the Yankees painting.
McMahon had spent his entire nine -season career with the rockies.

“While it is never easy to separate from a player and a person from Ryan’s caliber, our focus on this deadline is to build for a competitive future,” said the senior vice president of the rockies, Bill Schmidt, in a statement.
“We cannot thank Ryan enough for everything he has given this organization and community since we wrote in 2013. Its impact inside and outside the field has been tremendous, and we wish Ryan, Natalie and Austyn more than the best advances.”
Herring, 22, has a 7-3 record with an effectiveness of 1.71 in 16 openings between Tampa Single-A and High-A Hudson Valley. Herring was chosen in the sixth round of the 2024 mlb draft.

Grosz, 22, has a 4-8 record with an effectiveness of 4.14 in 16 appearances (15 openings) with High-A Hudson Valley. It was selected in the 11th Round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
The Yankees (56-46) expect McMahon to give them a boost in the section while competing for a postseason place.
The rockies (26-76) could seek to change more players before the exchange deadline on July 31 as they are built towards the future.
