The responses to today’s connections, game #776 are …
- Yellow: Herbs and spices Anise, Dill, Mace, Sage
- Green: Green tones Bottle, hunter, Kelly, pea
- Blue: Travel on foot Walk, March, Vagabundo, walk
- Purple: early European capitals COPE, Luxe, Sara, Wars
- My qualification: Hard
- My score: 2 errors
As someone who likes a good walk on a hillside, I am very familiar with the many alternative ways to describe a long walk, or travel on foot, as the connections express it.
If I want to tempt a partner to join me, I will use the word Trek, with their implications of adventure if they are more sports than me (99% of people) and I will ask if they like a meandro if they are slower (1% of people). However, I can’t imagine who would ask about going for a vagabond.
Herbs and spices were equally easy, but that’s where my fun ended.
With eight remaining words I had no idea. The only link I could do was green and green bottle green and after a couple of errors managed to form a group.
Even with the purple group completed for me, he took a Google before realizing that Sara was for Sarajevo and Luxe for the capital of Luxembourg, also called Luxembourg.
NYT Connections responses yesterday (Friday, July 25, game #775)
- Yellow: Hush-Hush Mom, private, quiet, secret
- Green: state abbreviations In, ma, oh, ok
- Blue: baseball calls Ball, fair, foul, out
- Purple: Queen __ Bed, bee, Maria, mother
What are NYT connections?
Nyt Connections is one of the several increasingly popular words games made by the New York Times. It challenges him to find groups of four elements that share something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple generally very difficult.
On the positive side, he technically does not need to solve the end, since he can answer it for an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you some space to breathe.
However, it is a bit more involved than something like Wordle, and there are many opportunities for the game to move you with tricks. For example, be careful with homophones and other words games that could disguise the answers.
It is playable for free through the Nyt Games site in desktop or mobile.
