Rain, prognosis of sudden floods from July 27

The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted generalized rain with locks of wind and strong isolated falls in much of the country from July 27 to 31, warning sudden floods, urban floods and landslides of land in several vulnerable areas.

According to the PMD, the currents of the weak monsoon are currently penetrating Pakistan and central parts and they are likely to intensify from July 28.

A western wave is expected to approach before July 29, strengthening the weather system further.

The rain is expected with strong isolated falls in Kashmiro (including Neelum Valley, Muzaffrabad, Rawalakot and Mirpur) and Gilgit-Baltistan (including Skardu, Astore and Hunza) from July 27 to July 31.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, it is likely that districts such as Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan and Peshawar receive rain and thunderstorms from July 28 to 31.

Punjab and Islamabad will see rain with strong scattered falls from July 28 to 31, affecting areas such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot. The rain is also likely in southern Punjab (DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan) from July 29 to 31.

The northeast and southern districts of Baluchistan, including Quetta, Barkhan and Zhob, can receive a rain from the night from July 29 to July 31.

In Sindh, the warm and humid climate will persist, although rain is forecast for July 30 and 31 in districts such as Tharparkar, Sanghar, Sukkur and Larkana.

The PMD warned that heavy rains could trigger sudden floods in streams of Chitral, Swat and other regions of the north.

It is likely that urban floods are in low areas of Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Sialkot.

Earth landslides or landslides can occur in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree and Kashmir.

Strong winds and rays can damage weak infrastructure, including Kacha’s houses, electric posts, solar panels and advertising fences.

The public has been advised, to travelers and tourists who stay informed and avoid unnecessary trips to vulnerable areas.

The authorities have been urged to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
