Earlier this week, Baluchistan police arrested 14 suspects for the “honor murder” of a couple accused of having an adventure, including a local tribal chief who allegedly ordered his death, authorities said on Monday.
The murders, which occurred last month, obtained generalized attention after a video arose that showed the couple shooting. The man who killed the woman was her brother, acting on behalf of the family and the tribe, said provincial police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari Reuters.
The chief of the tribe, Sher Baz Satakzai, had ordered the murder, he added. Satakzai was one of those arrested, according to Prime Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who went to the media at a press conference in Quetta, the provincial capital. “We will make sure everyone will be prosecuted,” Bugti said.
