Three coal miners lost their lives after inhaling toxic gases in a coal mine in Orakzai on Saturday.
According to the engineer of the Mines Inspector, Arshad Ali, one of the mines had been closed for a year. However, when the mine in charge entered along with two workers, they could not return.
“According to standard operating procedures (SOP) established for mines, no one is allowed to enter before downloading carbon monoxide gas. But they entered, ignoring the SOP; therefore, they lost their lives,” he said.
The deceased were identified as Sher Zaman, Rahimullah and Aslam.
