Islamabad:
Police arrested dozens of students at the Quaid-Azam University in a morning raid in the shelter for the Warsity Administration complaint.
The university administration completely annulled the shelters number 6, 8, 9 and 11 and arrested around 60 students who have been transferred to the Secretariat Police Station.
Providing details of the action, the administration said that students had been ordered to vacate the shelters before July 13 for the maintenance work that will be carried out during summer holidays.
By pointing out that a large number of students had already unemployed the shelters, others received multiple deadlines to comply with the directives and finally were evicted after the expiration of the final deadline.
By expanding the matter, the Islamabad police said that “legal assistance was provided at the request of the University Administration.”
Students who resisted this peaceful process have been transferred from the shelter, and legal measures will be taken at the request of the University Administration, the police added. Meanwhile, the human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir said that up to 72 students had been arrested by the university team.
