The leader of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi, criticized the Indian government for his management of the Sindoor operation, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of launching the military campaign against Pakistan only to protect his image. He described the operation as ending in an “immediate surrender” after only 30 minutes of action.
Pakistan and India fought an intense four -day war in May that left more than 70 people dead before the president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced a high fire among neighbors with nuclear weapons.
The conflict was caused by an April attack against Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied (Iiojk) that left 26 dead, mostly Hindus. India accused Pakistan of supporting the attackers without any evidence, a position that Islamabad denied.
During a debate in the Indian Parliament on Tuesday, Gandhi criticized the Government for the way he carried out the operation, specifically aimed at Modi and the Rajnath Singh defense minister.
“Rajnath Singh said the Sondoor operation began at 1:05 in the morning, and then declared that it lasted only 22 minutes. The most shocking revelation came when he said that at 1:35, we called Pakistan and informed them that we had achieved the non -military objectives and that we did not want to increase,” he said, citing the statutes of the Minister of Defense.
“The Government told the DGMO of India to ask for a stop at 1:35 am on the night of the Sindoor operation,” Gandhi added. He accused the Indian government for lack of political will, arguing that the request for Alto Fire amounted to an “immediate surrender in 30 minutes.”
In addition, he said that the objective of the operation was to protect the image of the prime minister. “The prime minister has the blood of the people of Pahalgam in his hands. The objective of the exercise was to ensure that he would use the Air Force to protect his image,” Gandhi said.
The leader of the Congress also criticized Modi for denying the repeated statements of Trump that he had successfully mediated a fire. “If you are lying, the prime minister should say in his speech that Donald Trump is lying. If he has the courage, as Indira Gandhi, he should say: ‘Donald Trump, you are a liar,'” he demanded.
Gandhi said that no country condemned Pakistan after the events in Pahalgam, despite the general condemnation of terrorism. “All countries have condemned terrorism. Absolutely, 100% correct. But after Pahalgam, no country condemned Pakistan. Not a single country condemned Pakistan,” he said.
The leader of the Congress also criticized the Indian Government for stating that he had dissuaded Pakistan, noting that the Chief General of the Pakistan army, also Munir, was having lunch with the president of the United States.
“Our prime minister cannot go there. Has the prime minister said something? Mr. Trump is inviting General Munir to his office. While these people run telling the world that Pakistan is supporting terrorism, the United States is having lunch with the man responsible for Pahalgam and organizing ways of fighting terrorism,” he added.
Gandhi further criticized the government’s position on military collaboration, citing the Defense Meeting of the Central and Southern Asia Chiefs held in Pakistan, which included superior military leadership of the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tayikistan and Uzbekistan.
He also made fun of the government’s response to terrorism, sarcastically referring to a statement made at the end of the Sindor operation that any act of terrorism would be considered an act of war. “What this statement says is that everything a terrorist has to do is an attack, and India will be at war. You have given the terrorists the power to start a war. You have returned to deterrence upside down,” he said.
The Congress leader also questioned the government’s foreign policy, accusing her of undermining the main objective of India to keep Pakistan and China separate. “The biggest foreign policy challenge in India has been to keep Pakistan and China separate, and now China and Pakistan have merged militarily,” he said.
In conclusion, Gandhi emphasized that India cannot afford a prime minister that does not have the courage to use the military when necessary. “We need a prime minister to freeze the army, freeze the Air Force and handle the situation as Indira Gandhi did,” he concluded.
Modi of India denies third -party mediation
Meanwhile, the Indian prime minister once again denied that any world leader pressed India to stop fighting Pakistan during his recent conflict, after repeated claims from the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who had negotiated La Paz.
“No world leader asked us to stop the operation,” Modi told Parliament during the debate, although he did not appoint Trump in his speech. He also said that it was Pakistan who begged India to stop fighting after feeling the “heat of our attacks.”
Trump has affirmed numerous times that he negotiated peace among the rivals, even more recently on Monday. “If I was not close, at this time, at this time, six important wars. India would be fighting with Pakistan,” Trump said during his visit to Scotland.
