Five police officers killed in Rahim Yar Khan’s bandits

Punjab/ Rahim Yar Khan:

At least five police officers were martyred after the armed bandits of the Katcha area attacked a police control point in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab police said on Friday.

Around 40 bandits, armed with rocket and grenades launchers, attacked the Weikhani police control point, located between Mahi Chowk and Sewetra Chowk, near Guddu-Kashmore Road, on Thursday night, according to IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar.

“The Police officers of the Elite Force, namely, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Salem, Nukhail, Agent Khalil and Ghazanfar, were martyred,” said the statement of his office. The first three officers were from Bahawalnagar, while the other two were from Rahim Yar Khan.

A bandit was also killed when the police took reprisals, the statement added. The attackers fled the site, but the police, directed by Dpo Irfan Ali Samo, has sealed all the entry points to the area.
