LAHORE:
The former prime minister and ruler president of the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, did not play any role for Baluchistan, as expected, the Secretary General of the National Party (NP), Jan Muhammad Buledi, said Wednesday.
At the beginning of April, a delegation of NP leaders, led by Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, had met with Nawaz in his residence in Jati Umra and reported him the situation in Baluchistan. NP leaders asked Nawaz to play their role “directly or indirectly through the federal government to help address provincial problems.
In a joint press conference after the meeting, the leader of PML-N, Khawaja Saad Raffique, had said that Nawaz had assured Baloch and his party leaders who would play his role for peace and stability in Baluchistan.
Raffique had also said that Nawaz assured the NP that he would get involved with political players to address the challenges facing the province. Senator Buledi said they had high expectations and expected the former prime minister to play his proactive role.
However, he added, it was Nawaz’s decision not to intervene in Baluchistan.
He added that Nawaz Sharif was in command, and any statement that this government was not in its control regarding such matters was wrong.
He said that preventing protesters from heading towards Islamabad in Punjab was very condemnable. It seems that those behind this did not want any political solution for Baluchistan’s problems.
He added that those who talked about Baluchistan’s rights were seen with suspicion.
