Iranian President Masoud fishshkian arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for an official two -day visit, the first since he assumed the position. It was warmly received at the Allama Iqbal International Airport of Lahore by the president of the Pakistan Muslim League, Nawaz Sharif, and Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz reported Express News.
Dr. Pezeshkian was accompanied by a high -level delegation, including Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers and other high -ranking officials. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Iranian leader will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and will hold conversations at the level of delegation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his stay.
In statements to the media before his visit, President Pezeshkian said that the main objective of his trip was to improve economic and commerce cooperation. He said that issues related to border security and regional peace would also be discussed, adding that cross -border markets and connectivity could open new paths for collaboration.
He expressed the hope of raising bilateral trade to US $ 10 billion and reiterated Iran’s interest in actively participating in the Chinese initiative -Pakistan Belt and Road, which according to him could serve as a bridge that connects Iran with Europe. He also said that attempts to undermine the Islamic unity of Pakistan -they would not succeed.
In May, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a two -day visit to Iran as part of his regional tour of friendly nations, with the aim of expressing his gratitude for his support during the conflict with India. During the visit, he met with supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Pezeshkian.
Discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan-Iran’s relations, with special emphasis on improving regional trade and connectivity. Both parties also addressed broader regional problems and recognized Iran’s efforts to promote peace during the war imposed on Pakistan for India.
