A man who attended a recent major leagues football game said that his choice of clothing resulted in him “asked to leave” the sporting event, according to a video posted on social networks.

The man, who identified in the video as Michael Weitzel, was seen with a red hat “Make America Great Again” in Enerizer Park, St. Louis City SC’s Home Stadium.

“I am Michael Weitzel and they have asked me to leave the Donald Trump hat,” he says in the video during an exchange with security personnel and law agents.

A member of the local security team responded by saying “they are not politicians here … they don’t want any political messaging.”

Weitzel responded by pointing to a section of fans holding flags and suggesting that the articles were inherently political. But, security personnel quickly clarified saying: “Those were previously approved.”

The rules in Enerizer Park declared that political banners were not allowed in the stadium. He mentions nothing about hats.

Weitzel then questioned if the policies were applied uniformly. After the staff assured Weitzel the equal application of the rules, he said he was “being threatened with arrest”, before looking for confirmation that he was “being evicted from the facilities.”

When Weitzel went to the attendance area, he said: “Trump is not welcome at the St. Louis City SC Club.”

One of the security employees suggested that he could return to his seat if his hat was removed. “If you take off your hat, you can come back.”

“If I take my hat off, can I go back?” Weitzel replied. He quickly removed his hat, but someone off the camera informed him: “We are passing that point.” Weitzel then placed his hat on his head.

“It’s not your fault. Just follow the rules,” he said in reference to one of the security workers. “So this is what happens when you wear a Donald Trump hat in a ST. Louis City SC game.”

St. Louis City SC did not launch any public statement on Saturday on the incident. The team enters Sunday at number 14 at the MLS Western Conference.
