The number of floods increases to 299


Islamabad:

At least 299 people, including 140 children, lost their lives, and another 715, including 239 children, were injured in sudden floods and torrential rains that extended through vulnerable areas of the country since June 26, according to the latest figures issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Since June 26, sudden floods and torrential rains have caused generalized destruction, damaging a total of 1,676 houses in the affected areas. The severe climate also led to the loss of 428 cattle, aggravating the impact on local communities.

According to the NDMA, a total of 299 people were killed: 140 children, 102 men and 57 women. The breakdown of the data of the 715 wounded showed that among them there were 239 children, 204 women and 272 men.

The NDMA carried out 223 extensive rescue operations, evacuating 2,880 individuals of regions affected by floods.

In addition, it also distributed 13,466 relief items in vulnerable areas, including 1,999 tents, 61 ration bags, 350 life jackets, 1,122 hygiene kits, 146 water pumps to support affected families.
