In our review of the Samsung Galaxy Ring we gave the wearable 4.5 stars out of 5, so we’re excited to see what the upcoming model has to offer, and it looks like we might get our first look at the second-generation smart ring. as soon as next month.
According to Taiwanese news outlet DigiTimes (via Neowin), we will have a “reveal” of the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 at an Unpacked event in January. Previous rumors have suggested that Samsung plans to schedule one for January 22.
We don’t give away many new details here, although the report mentions new size options, more accurate sensors, improved AI, and better battery life – all fairly predictable updates, but welcome nonetheless.
DigiTimes says we could also see a new pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses from Samsung at the Unpacked event, something that has already been predicted by other sources, so it’s shaping up to be a pretty major showcase for Samsung products.
A full Unpacked
Lest we forget, the main reason for the Samsung Unpacked event in January is the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series of phones. We expect a standard model, an S25 Plus, an S25 Ultra and possibly also a new Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim.
Galaxy AI apps and tools will also span all of these devices: Part of the event should be dedicated to the full release of One UI 7 for Galaxy phones (Samsung’s version of Android 15), which is currently in beta testing.
However, if the Galaxy Ring 2 and the new AR specifications are mentioned here, they may not go on sale immediately. Note that the original Galaxy Ring wasn’t available for purchase until July 2024, after a January 2024 teaser, so the same thing could happen again in 2025.
When the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 finally sees the light of day, it will almost certainly be worth mentioning on our list of the best smart rings you can buy, although we’ll have to wait to test it before offering a final version. verdict.
