- A South Korea youtuber is folding and displaying the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 200,000 times in an extreme durability test
- The test is, at the time of writing, still being live on YouTube
- The phone has survived more than 130,000 almost consecutive folds
A South Korean technological youtuber has assumed the challenge of deploying and folding the Samsung Galaxy Z fold 7 200,000 times, placing Samsung’s last flake folding Samsung through an extreme durability test.
YouTube Channel Tech It, at the time of writing, continues to transmit the experimental test, marking interesting developments as they advance.
With 6,000 folding cycles, the phone suffered a restart error, possibly overwhelmed by the constant change between its folded and deployed states.
With 46,000 cycles, the hinge began to grow, without encouraging with such a low number of folds, but keep in mind that this test is as much as possible of daily use.
With 75,000 cycles, the text superimposed on the screen says that an “unidentified liquid” began to leak of the hinge. Once again, this is intriguing, but it should not be alarm reason unless you also plan to place your galaxy z fold 7 to several thousand consecutive folds.

Attend
At the time of writing, the live broadcast has been operating for nine hours, with just over 137,000 registered fold cycles. That suggests an average rhythm of around 4 cycles per second, although the current rhythm seems to have decreased to around 2.5 cycles per second.
In its current rhythm, and at the time of publication, Tech will complete its mission in about seven hours.
Should he pay attention to durability?
As we report previously, Samsung states that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can support 500,000 folds, assuming to display your phone 50 times a day, that is around 27 years of daily use.
However, there is no truly useful way to put this claim to the test: it is not practical or sensible for the daily user to count and record every time they deploy their phone.
Here in Techradar, we do not prove the durability, although telephone manufacturers are always improving the resilience and longevity of their devices, there is simply no objective way to test most of the durability claims.
Even quantifiable limits, such as the promise of 500,000 folds made by Samsung, may depend on a series of factors such as temperature, frequency of use or manufacturing inconsistencies.
Even so, there is some value in the tests like this, in the last test of infamous youtuber Jerry Rig Eventhing, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 refused to break in half, that is as frank as it could take, but still remarkable for a hinge device.
