Rawalpindi:
The Civil Administration in Rawalpindi imposed on Monday section 144 throughout the district from August 4 to 10 before the PTI protest scheduled for today, August 5.
According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner of Rawalpindi, Hassan Waqar Cheem, public meetings and political manifestations in the city of Garrison are prohibited, whose Adiala jail is the place where the founder of PTI Imran Khan has been arrested for about 2 years. Under section 144, the motorcycle pass and weapons exhibition are prohibited, while the speakers cannot be used during this period. To avoid any situation of law and order near Adiala’s jail, a red alert has been issued and Adiala Road will be completely sealed with containers.
According to the official notification, the Punjab Rangers will be deployed around the jail and the Rangers will carry out joint patrols with the Rawalpindi Police. The riot police equipped with tear gas and the canes will also be parked in all barricades.
Kacheri trafficking to the Adial prison and the exchange of the Chakri highway will deviate to alternative routes. Legal measures will be taken against anyone who tries to eliminate official blockages.
Meanwhile, before the planned protests, the leader of the PTI and the former speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser issued a video message that indicates that on August 5, there will be protests throughout the country.
“This is not only a protest, but the beginning of a movement. Two years ago, on this same day, the fascist government unfairly arrested Imran Khan, and during the last two years, he has remained imprisoned without due cause.
“We demand justice and decisions based on the merit of the Judiciary. Unfortunately, after the 26th constitutional amendment, the Judiciary has become practically subordinate to the government. It is sad to see that the public’s confidence in the courts decreases day by day,” he added.
The PTI leader asked what has left the numerous operations carried out in the fused districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which were previously part of the tribal areas administered by the Federal Government (Fata).
“These operations have not brought peace or ended the riots. That is clarified: we will not allow any military operation on our soil. We want peace in our land.
“Our demand is simple and clear: justice for Imran Khan. When justice is denied, the principle of ‘power is correct’ prevails. A system of disbelief can survive, but a system based on oppression cannot,” he added.
According to Qaiser, the country addresses tyranny and current rulers are sitting in power through force. He said people do not want violence, explosions or extortion, but peace, jobs and education for our children.
“The movement that begins today is not only the battle of PTI, is the struggle of the entire nation, for the rule of law, justice, merit and equal rights for all citizens,” he said.
