- Unitree A2 is a new quadruped robot
- It is super fast
- A2 can maintain a 220 pound load
If someone were launching a robot action hero movie and did not want a humanoid (or Arnold Schwarzenegger), they could hire the new Unitree A2. This quadruped robot can run, jump, climb, run through the hills, fall, carry a heavy load and, yes, as shown in the promotional video, it crosses a glass plate. Everything missing here is the soundtrack of the blockbuster action movie.
With a maximum speed of 11.2 mph, the new A2 is a kind of milestone in quadrupeds, overcoming the standard robot spot dynamics standard in almost 8 miles per hour.
The A2 Stellar Explorer model represented in the video is built for all types of resistant and unequal land. Its 30 cm passage height helps you cross rocks and mount stairs with abandonment. It is also comfortable with an inclination of 45 degrees up or downstairs.
While lacking a head or any characteristic that can help you easily anthropomorphize, you can “see.” The strange -looking quadruple uses lidar mounted in the front and rear to monitor its surroundings and make settings on the fly.
In the video, the A2 does not take each correct step, but even a trip, autumn or fall does not seem to stop the 12 high density engines of A2 propeller.

You are also ready to carry significant loads. In the video, an adult man is on the back of the A2, demonstrating his maximum foot load capabilities of 220 pounds. In motion, you can carry a 25 lb package.
Although Unitree does not specify the battery life, the A2 is equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery and the option of a dual batteries of 18,000 mAh. In the video, it entails a 30 kg payload for more than 3 hours in almost 13 km.
As for its preparation for the outdoors, the A2 is classified as IP56, which means that it can resist a water jet, and we would assume that it also means a rain storm. However, it does not seem to handle any type of water submersion.
No prices and availability have been established, but Unitree has been arriving below the average industry when it comes to price. We will see if the A2 fits that model.
