“On August 1, 2025, at 9:30 pm, the agents of the Southern Los Angeles station made a traffic stop at the Los Angeles Chargers soccer player, Denzel Perryman, 32, for violations of the vehicle code,” said the Sheriff’s department in a statement.

“During the traffic stop, the agents discovered five firearms in Mr. Perryman’s vehicle, two of which were assault style rifles.”

The Los Angeles County District Prosecutor’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comments, but a subsequent statement from the Los Angeles County District Office, Nathan Hochman, clarified that no decision had been made to charge Perryman.
“Our office is aware of the erroneous information that circulates in several news reports about the state of the case of Denzel Perryman derived from an arrest on Friday, August 1, 2025. Unlike some media reports, a decision has not been made to reject charges or prosecution of the forge,” said the statement.

“The case was reviewed by prosecutors for consideration and, on August 4, it was returned to the police for greater investigation. As of today, the case remains under active investigation. Once this process is complete, the police can return to present the case to our office for an additional review and consideration of possible positions. We remain committed to ensuring that all cases are exhaustive and evaluated based on the evidence.”
Perryman was recruited by the Chargers in 2015 and played for the team until 2020. He is in his second period with the team after signing a one -year contract in 2024 and signing again with the chargers again this low season.
