Former UFC fighter Ben Askren says that he turned to faith after waking up from a medically induced coma and undergoing a double lung transplant after a severe case of pneumonia.
During an interview with Flowrestling published last week, the first Olympic fighter He talked about his trip and at the time he woke up from a comma and decided to become a Christian.

“There were several times when they thought he was dead. As if he was dead, that’s the other side,” Askren said in the video. “I woke up and decided that I was a Christian. So that is crazy.”

Askren explained that while he attended the Church with his wife, he never felt the call to faith.
“I went with my wife to the church for 15 years because that was part of the deal. I said: ‘Well, I’m not a Christian, but I’ll support you.’ And it was really strange when I woke up, I’m like ‘I have to do it.’ Do you know? He continued.
“[I have] So much gratitude for all who have helped. Many people have donated money, observed our children, donated food, many friends come and go through me, just so much gratitude for being close to me. “

Ben Askren released from the hospital after an exhausting recovery of double lung transplant
Askren remembers having gone to the hospital in May with what he initially thought it was a kind of back pain. Instead, the former fighter was placed on a fan in June and finally placed in the list of donors for lung transplantation on June 24.
His surgery was a success, and Askren has resorted to social networks to update his fans and followers while continuing his recovery trip. In his last update this week, he told fans that he made his “almost third round” today “on the floor of his hospital.
“Make good progress. I hope you are doing the same with their lives.”

Askren, 40, was An NCAA Champion in the 170 -pound division in 2006 and 2007 and competed for the US team. In the 2008 Olympic Games. He won gold medals in the 2005 Pan American Championship and the 2009 World Championship.
He made the transition to MMA Fighting when he debuted in Bellator in 2010. He competed in a championship before moving to the UFC. In 2021, Askren fought against Jake Paul in a boxing game, and was knocked out in the first round.
