The center of Seattle Kraken, John Hayden, and his pet, Boya, had a close match with a brown bear during a promotional video session in Alaska in June.
Hayden and La Boya were on a fishing excursion in the Katmai National Park when the bear approached them.
While fishing, Hayden and the buoy were accompanied by a guide, who saw the bear. The guide caused the crew to cross the shallow river.

Brown bears commonly delight with salmon on the Brooks River in the Katmai National Park, swallowing them while jumping upstream on Brooks Falls to spawn. The park, almost 300 miles (485 km) southwest Anchorage and inaccessible by road, houses the annual “Fat Bear Week” contest that celebrates the Bears while gaining fattening during the winter.
“The bears are everywhere in Brooks Falls and, as, this is their territory,” said Marketing director of Kraken Partnership, Melissa O’Brochta, who also recorded the match from the coast. “They are also very accustomed to seeing humans. So I was not scared.”
