It is expected that DJI will throw a new ultralight weight drone this year, with the highly anticipated DJI Mini 5 Pro apparently preparing for a 2025 launch. But it is believed in recent online rumors, however, the company could be announcing two models for the end of the year, and one is a completely new type of drone based on a 360 camera.
We have already had an official confirmation that Antigravity is preparing its own light 360 drone driven by the Insta360 camera technology, although only through a teaser, with details that remain unknown for now. And, if a report in Notebookck is necessary, you will have a competitor from the beginning.
The report details the rumors that arise from China who claim that DJI is working on a similar weight drone (less than 250 g, to ensure that it remains at the sweet point of the regulation network) that will also offer an 8K 360 video recording, using a three -axis mechanical gimbal to maintain its camera.
The camera will apparently be based on bases similar to hardware within the DJI Osmo 360 recently launched, the company’s first 360 action chamber.
A Flying 360 osmo?
The 360 OSMO is an excellent 360 camera (I know why I have tried it for our DJI Osmo 360), using two 1/1.1 inches married sensors with two ultra ultra ultra fish lenses and a group of smart software tricks to create 8K panoramic videos with a minimum of effort.
These videos can be reformulated in DJI complementary applications (either the DJI Mimo mobile application or the DJI Studio Desktop application) before being exported to share or use in other editing programs.
A flying version of the 360 OSMO that manages to stay below 250 g sounds almost too good to be true, especially if you are going to have two large on -board sensors. I suspect that we can see smaller sensors in the drone, to keep weight below that key brand of 250 g.
If the reports are correct, DJI seems to have a few months busy ahead. The company is also proposed to launch the DJI Mic 3, a new model in its popular wireless microphone range, as well as the DJI Osmo Nano, a small modular action chamber and the DJI Romo, the company’s first robotic vacuum cleaner.
