While the new aspect of ‘liquid glass’ and a much more powerful focus of attention could be the main characteristics of Tahoe 26, I discovered that bringing a very dear iPhone feature has proven to be the highlight after weeks of testing.
Live activities steal the program on the iPhone, thanks to its glan and its effort to highlight the key information, either from a first or third application. Some of my favorites are:
- Flighty shows real -time flight tracking details, for me, family or friends
- Aerolineas as United shows my seat, a countdown to shipping or even the luggage claim
- Ridarehare applications tell him what type of car is driving
- Apple Sports shows the live scores of your favorite teams in real time with the game
Now, all this is reaching the MAC, on the right in the upper navigation bar, near the right side. They appear when their iPhone is close, it is recorded in the same Apple account and reflects the same live activities as you would see on your phone. It is a simple but powerful addition.
Taking into account that Apple brought the iPhone reflex to the MAC in 2024, this 2025 follow -up is not surprising. But it is exactly the type of small characteristic that makes a big difference. I loved being able to consult a score, track a flight or see my live position on a plane, without fishing my phone.
I have used it a lot in my desk, but for me, it really shines in the economic class. If you have ever tried to balance an iPhone and a MacBook Pro, or even a Macbook Air, at a tray table, you know the awkward superposition. Usually, I finish pointing the iPhone against my screen, hunging it from the palm footrest or simply throwing it in my lap. With live activities in the MAC, I can continue with a device and keep the table of the tray free of disorder.
Taking into account the already synchronized notifications, the iPhone reflection arrived last year, the live activities were ultimately the missing piece. In Macos Tahoe, they feel perfectly collapsed in the menu bar, as well as the dynamic island on the iPhone, and you can click one to expand and see the complete activity. Another click on any of these live activities quickly open the application on your iPhone through the mirror application: everything works together without problems.
You can also discard them easily, since I have discovered that they automatically expand for the main updates, saving screen real estate in your Mac. If you already have a live activity that you really enjoy on your iPhone, additional work is not needed from the developer, since they will be repeated automatically.
In general, it is a small but super useful tool that really stands out in narrow spaces. So, if you have ever fought with the same equilibrium performance as me with a tray table, your iPhone and a MacBook, you know that relief is on its way.
It reaches the fall (September or October) with the launch of Macos Tahoe 26. If you wish before, the Public Beta of Macos Tahoe is now available, but must agree with some insects and decelerations.
