The former NFL chief coach Jon Gruden was the beneficiary of a key ruling in his case against the League on Monday, since the Supreme Court of Nevada determined that his case could proceed in the Court instead of arbitration.
Gruden sued the NFL in 2021 after separating with the Las Vegas raiders when the emails filtered revealed a racist, sexist and homophobic language.

The former chief coach and soccer personality for a long time filed a lawsuit against the League and Commissioner Roger Goodell, claiming that a “malicious and orchestrated campaign” was used to destroy his career by filtering the emails. The leaked messages were from when he was an ESPN analyst and “Monday Night Football”.
The NFL appealed to the Superior Court of Nevada in 2022 after a judge in Las Vegas rejected the offers of the League of dismissing Gruden’s claim directly or of ordering extrajudicial conversations through an arbitration process that could be supervised by Goodell.
On Monday, the Supreme Court of Nevada ruled a 5-2 decision that “the arbitration clause in the Constitution of the NFL is inconceivable and does not apply to Gruden as a former employee.”
The NFL declined to comment on the ruling, according to Associated Press.
Gruden’s lawyers applauded the ruling in a statement to Pro Football Talk.

“We are very satisfied with the decision of the Supreme Court of Nevada, not only for coach Gruden, but for all employees who face the process of unfair arbitration of an employer,” said Adam Hosmer-Henner of McDonald Carano LLP to The Outlet. “This victory further claims the reputation of coach Gruden, and clarifies the way to give him all justice and hold the NFL.”
Gruden was the Raiders chief coach when the team moved from Oakland to Las Vegas. He is looking for monetary damage, claiming that the selective dissemination of emails that ruin his career and support agreements.
Since he left the Raiders, Gruden has returned to the NFL back to the NFL. He has been seen working with players from the Saints of New Orleans and, more recently, the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars. It is also property and consultant of the Arena Football One League Nashville Kats.
He expressed the hope of a return from the NFL in July when he visited the lions.
“I hope it is not over,” Gruden told reporters, through Detroit Free Press. “I am about to return. I am working hard to have one more opportunity, but I hope that some of these types that fell from my branch, if you say it that way, maybe they can hire me because I am looking for a job.

“I don’t care if I train in Jones Junior High,” he added. “I’m going to train again. I’m still training. I’m not officially in a team, but I have some private tasks in which I work, and I use some equipment when I am looking at the games that nobody knows about who I am throwing.”
