The Los Angeles Rams will try it one last time before moving on to the next generation.
The Rams selected Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft in April, but shortly afterward, they extended reigning MVP Matthew Stafford for one more year and then shocked the league by acquiring reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
The Garrett trade then sparked some speculation and rumors that three-time DPOY Aaron Donald was thinking about returning.

When asked in a recent interview with Pak Gazette Digital if he was a package deal with Donald, former Ram Andrew Whitworth said, “No, I don’t think so.”
“If I was 35, I’d be there right now. There’s no doubt about that. I mean, obviously, I’ve already proven that because I played until I was 40,” Whitworth added.
But Whitworth said he’s been keeping an eye on the future Hall of Famer to see where his heart is.
“I’ve been staying with AD. I send him a little text every once in a while trying to get an idea. I’d love to see him. It would be super exciting,” Whitworth said. “He’ll do what’s best for him. I hope he gets some training in, and man, I hope he gets the itch because there would be nothing more fun than watching that guy. He’s one of the most special humans and players I’ve ever met. At the same time, I don’t want him to go out and get hurt, but if he’s interested in doing it, I hope he does it. I’d love to see him. That’s for sure.”
It’s hard not to get excited at the thought of two of the game’s all-time greats lining up side by side, and that’s exactly what Donald would be doing if he teamed up with Garrett.

But Garrett alone is enough to get Whitworth stuck with the Rams next season.
“I’ve caught up to him. He’s used my gym here that a lot of the guys train at, so it’s been great to see him here and be around him a little bit. I’m excited for him,” Whitworth said. “I think he’ll realize that this is a very special place to play. It’s a unique locker room and culture. I consider it a unique place, and I think in having some conversations with him, he already realized that and realized what a special opportunity this is.
“I think you’re going to see an even more revitalized, excited, amplified version of Myles Garrett when he gets here and realizes how special this place is and the juice it’s going to give him to be a part of something bigger than himself, where he’s in a winning place, and he’s in a place that’s built to win, and it’s going to be one of the reasons they win. So I think it’s going to be fun to see this guy get after it this fall.”
Another event Whitworth is excited about is this year’s American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, where he will once again play in Lake Tahoe.
“I guess I’m counting the days every year. I think the moment it’s over, you get nervous about next year,” Whitworth said.

“It’s hilarious. You’ve got all these athletes, celebrities, everything else that’s been on TVs in front of thousands of people, everything else, but we joke every year, the group of us when we’re sitting around talking, like the nerves, the nervous energy, those little tremors that you get in front of all those people, that crowd, to go out there and play well. It’s a lot of fun, man.
“It’s obviously not what we all specifically set out to do in life and to live, but it kind of reminds you of some of those feelings of how much it means to you and the energy. It’s really grown and grown and grown with the fans. So it’s a very special week, man. It’s one that I think we think about all year.”
