ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to include him in the high-powered selection board for promotion of senior bureaucrats from grade 21 to 22, it was learned on Friday.
Bilawal said he wanted to participate with the prime minister in the promotion process of senior officials.
As a result, a board meeting scheduled for Monday and Tuesday was postponed until January.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will take the final decision on whether to include Bilawal in the board or not. Earlier, according to sources, it was proposed to include the prime ministers in the meeting of the Central Selection Court for the promotion of civil servants of the 20th and 21st grades.
However, the prime minister rejected the proposal and instead included Senator Saleem Mandviwala on the board. Several political figures, including the PPP’s Naveed Qamar, had been included on the board in the past.
