As the largest-ever edition of the global event, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first tournament hosted by three countries (United States, Mexico and Canada) with 48 teams competing in 16 host cities. Here’s what you need to know about the tournament:

The World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Spread across three countries, the tournament will culminate with the final on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. All 104 matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on FOX (70) and FS1 (34) and each match will be streamed live and on-demand on both FOX One and the FOX Sports app. A record 40 matches, more than a third of the tournament, will be broadcast in prime time on FOX (21) and FS1 (19).

The June 11 opening match between Mexico and South Africa (3 p.m. ET) will be streamed for free on Tubi, as will the United States’ opening match against Paraguay on June 12 (9 p.m. ET).

Who will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup?

For the first time, there will be three countries hosting the World Cup: the United States, Canada and Mexico. Only once in the tournament’s history have there been co-hosts: the 2002 edition was held in South Korea and Japan.

Eleven cities will host the tournament in the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area. Canadian cities Toronto and Vancouver will also host games, and three Mexican cities will also be included: Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

By 2026, the majority of the 104 matches will be played in the United States, with 78 matches spread across 11 cities. Canada (two cities) and Mexico (three cities) will have 13 games each.
