Geno Smith is under investigation by Florida authorities for an alleged assault.
One woman claimed on Instagram that the New York Jets quarterback “beat my ass because he HATES taking care of his son with special needs and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch sex online and play Call of Duty.”
The California Post and ESPN reported that police were called to Smith’s home in Davie, Florida, on Sunday, but no arrests were made.

However, ESPN reported Tuesday morning, and Pak Gazette Digital confirmed, that a review of the case warranted further investigation and it is now an active case.
No additional information was provided. The Jets did not respond to emails from Pak Gazette Digital.
Smith is scheduled to begin his second stint with the Jets, who selected him in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, later this year. The Jets acquired him from the Las Vegas Raiders, who used the No. 1 pick to select Fernando Mendoza.

This will also mark Smith’s third time calling MetLife Stadium home, as he signed with the New York Giants after his first stint with Gang Green.
Smith replaced Russell Wilson in Seattle for two seasons and replaced him quite well, hitting .500 in each of his three seasons as a starter, but the Seahawks sent him to the Raiders and brought in Sam Darnold, one of several moves that helped them win the Super Bowl last February.
Smith led the NFL with 17 interceptions last year, and with the first overall pick, Smith’s time with Vegas was understandably short-lived. But because the Jets own the No. 2 pick in a weak quarterback class, they turned to the veteran market after Justin Fields failed.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn boldly claimed that Smith would “lead us to the promised land.” The Jets won just three games last season and haven’t made the postseason since 2010.
