Hansi Flick has expressed his intention to extend his stay at Barcelona after leading the club to the League title.
The German coach said he feels “in the right place” and already aspires to continue achieving success.
The Barcelona coach confirms his long-term commitment
Flick has confirmed that he will extend his contract with Barcelona until 2028 following the club’s league title. The announcement comes shortly after Barça sealed the championship with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid.
The extension rewards Flick for two successful seasons in Catalonia, where the former Bayern Munich coach has overseen a strong campaign that delivered national titles and restored stability at the club.

Flick explains his decision and outlines his ambitions
Speaking about the new agreement, Flick admitted that the situation developed quickly, but was grateful for the club’s trust.
“Has this been announced? I’m sorry, but I had a lot on my mind,” Flick told reporters.
“I am very grateful to the Club for the opportunity to train until 2028. The Club has the right to terminate it and so do I.
“We will discuss this option a year later. In recent days it has become clear to me that I am in the right place. Now is the time to continue winning and try again to win the Champions League. I am very grateful to the Club for its trust.”
Chasing the 100 point milestone
Despite having the title secured with a 14-point lead, Flick is not willing to let his team relax during the final three games of the season.
Looking ahead to the trip against Alavés, the coach made it clear that breaking records continues to be a priority for the Blaugrana.
“The objective now is to reach 100 points and to do so we have to win the three remaining games and play well,” he stated.
Locker room leaders and injury battles
Reflecting on a season marked by success and adversity, Flick also praised the leadership qualities of his players.
He specifically highlighted the impact of Gavi and Pedri in driving team standards.
“We have different types of leaders. There is Gavi, who since he returned to training has raised the level of our sessions; he is the heart of the team. There is Pedri, a leader with the ball. Eric [Garcia] it is too. And the captains, like Frenkie [de Jong]ronald [Araujo]Raphinha,” Flick explained.
“The first thing we have to do is make people happy. And I’m proud of that, and I’ve told the players that because it’s been a difficult season because of the injuries.” Flick said. “There have been key players who at times have not been available, such as Lamine [Yamal]Pedri, Raphinha, Frenkie. And the season we have had is incredible and how we have improved in the last two months in attack and defense. “We have conceded fewer goals and nobody expected it.”
