Invaded lands recovered near the Diplomatic Enclave

CDA Planning Department to send recommendations for auction of salable government land

ISLAMABAD:

The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has reclaimed six acres of CDA-owned land behind the high-security Red Zone and Diplomatic Enclave in the federal capital, worth billions of rupees.

According to the CDA, the lands had been illegally occupied for decades and were recovered after a three-month operation during which 19 criminal cases were registered against the agents of the influential occupation mafia.

CDA officials further said that to protect the six acres of land acquired by the CDA worth billions of rupees from future illegal occupation, the CDA Planning Department will send recommendations for auction of salable government land to the CDA Chairman and the Chief Commissioner. Final approval will be given by the CDA Board.

Narrating the history of the land, officials said that in 1981, former President General Zia-ul-Haq had ordered the construction of a model village at Nurpur Shahan, where the CDA allotted plots to a total of 23 residents at that time.

CDA officials said the Supreme Court of Pakistan had also issued orders against encroachments.
