Joaquín, Kelly Ripa’s son, makes a gastronomic gesture on Mother’s Day

Kelly Ripa celebrated Mother’s Day with an unexpected gastronomic gesture from her youngest son, Joaquín Consuelos, who treated her to a McDonald’s feast instead of a traditional home-cooked meal.

During the May 11 episode of Lives with Kelly and MarkThe 55-year-old announcer revealed that Joaquín, who currently stars Death of a salesman on Broadway, he sent her a funny text from backstage suggesting the fast-food treat.

Although the 23-year-old initially confused the holiday with her birthday, the family went ahead with the order, which Kelly described as a “big moment” and a rare departure from her usual strict health regimen.

The Mother’s Day meal was a major turning point for Ripa, who follows a nutritionist-approved diet consisting of green juices, microgreen salads, and avocado-based desserts.

Telling her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos, that the experience was “very different from us,” Kelly admitted that she ate a Big Mac and large fries.

It was the first time in years that the couple had indulged in this way, but the daytime star insisted it was delicious and that they had a great time.

Beyond the food, Kelly was particularly excited about the lack of household chores, and joked that cleaning up involved simply throwing leftovers in the trash.

Mark Consuelos, who recently celebrated 30 years of marriage to Kelly on May 1, had some light-hearted complaints about portion sizes.

He jokingly questioned the weight of his quarter pounder, suggesting that it might not actually be a full quarter pounder, while Kelly noted that the Big Mac seemed much smaller than he remembered from years ago.

He even wondered aloud if the burgers had shrunk or simply grown since his last visit to the Golden Arches.

Despite the casual nature of the dinner, Kelly couldn’t resist trying to make the occasion seem a little formal.

Mark made fun of his wife for setting the table with real plates, even though they ate out of cardboard boxes.

Kelly admitted that she took out the plates to make things look nice for the special day, only to put them back in the cupboard once they realized they weren’t needed.

For a mother of three, including Michael, 28, and Lola, 24, it was clearly the stress-free, “trash and go” nature of the evening that made it a winning Mother’s Day gesture.
