  • The request for preventive detention presented on Tuesday was rejected.
  • The police subsequently filed a fresh custody application for investigation.
  • Pinky arrested in Garden area, wanted in “multiple” cases.

A local court in Karachi on Wednesday approved a three-day physical remand for a high-profile female ‘drug peddler’, Anmol alias Pinky, in a case registered by the Karachi South Police.

Police went to court a day after a remand application for her was rejected. The suspect had previously been sent to prison on remand.

The investigating officer cited three main reasons in the remand report: identifying the source of the cocaine supply, determining his financial resources and conducting a Criminal Records Office (CRO) check.

During the hearing on Wednesday, the investigator again requested physical remand in the case registered against Pinky. The DIG South said that a fresh application for physical remand has been submitted before the court and added that details of previous cases against Anmol alias Pinky have also been collected.

Pinky, who was arrested in Karachi’s Garden area, was a highly wanted suspect and had absconded in at least 10 different cases, according to police.

Police said weapons, cocaine and other drugs worth around Rs 1.5 million were recovered from his custody, adding that he allegedly ran a drug supply network in the port city.

‘Pinky’s voice note’

Furthermore, investigators recovered multiple audio messages from his mobile phone. In one recording, she is heard warning her contacts about a possible arrest and suggesting that her network would continue through someone else running its operations.

“Hello friends! If you are listening to this message, either something happened to me or I am no longer alive. If something happens to me, someone will continue to contact you from this same number,” Pinky is heard saying in the supposed voice note.

“The contact person will be a man, my friend, who will take care of the job. If something happens to me, the job will continue through the same number.”

SSP South withdrawn from investigation

In a separate development, SSP South was removed from the investigation and replaced by DIG West Irfan Baloch, a notification said.

Irfan Baloch has been assigned the task of investigating all the matters that arose during Pinky’s court appearance on Tuesday. The investigation will also examine alleged protocol violations.

DIG West has been directed to submit his report within three days, the notification said. The additional IG said strict action will be taken against any official or official found guilty of negligence or misconduct.
