ISLAMABAD: Security forces neutralized 14 Indian-backed terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Basima district of Balochistan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
The IBO was carried out by security forces in Naal area of Basima district on June 8, 2026, after receiving reports about the presence of militants belonging to the Indian proxy, Fitna al-Hindustan, the army’s media wing said.
The terrorists were reportedly planning to attack a nearby police station and banks in the area.
On receiving the information, security forces took quick action and an IBO was launched to foil the terrorists’ nefarious plans, the ISPR said.
During the operation, the army’s media wing said that the movement of the terrorists was effectively controlled and combated by the army in a punitive manner. After an intense exchange of fire, fourteen Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed and several terrorists were injured.
In addition, four vehicles used by terrorists and improvised explosive devices were also destroyed at the site, the statement added.
During the intense exchange of fire, a brave son of the soil, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas, having fought bravely, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom.
The ISPR said disinfection operations were being carried out in the area to eliminate remaining militants and ensure security.
The statement added that counter-terrorism operations under the national security framework “Azm-e-Istehkam” would continue at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Pakistan witnessed a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in its provinces of KP and Balochistan, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came to power.
Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq”, killing dozens of Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants and wounding hundreds more.
In October 2025, border clashes broke out after Afghan Taliban and affiliated militants launched unprovoked attacks on Pakistani border posts.
Despite several rounds of talks, both countries have been unable to reach an agreement, largely due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s reluctance to take action against terrorist groups.
