Although the functionality was never widely released for Xbox consoles, Copilot is currently available as part of the Xbox mobile app. It was also released in beta for PC via Xbox Game Bar.
Gamers have questioned the usefulness of the software since its initial introduction, with many preferring to rely on dedicated gaming guide websites or community forums for help.
“They can’t resist forcing their latest corporate initiative on the console, and then when gamers reject it, they spend years trying to back out,” one Reddit commenter wrote earlier this year in response to the news that Copilot was coming to Xbox.
“The feature no one asked for. Out of touch,” another added.
To me, the news that the plans have been scrapped is a tacit admission of what most of us knew all along: no hardcore gamers wanted Copilot on Xbox in the first place.
