The great Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago puppies showed exactly why he recently retired during the 5-4 defeat of the team against the Rays of Tampa Bay in Wrigley Field on Saturday.
Rizzo, 36, joined the puppies as team ambassador and threw the first ceremonial launch to former Ian Happ teammate to start the day. Rizzo then went out to the left field stands to enjoy the game and became part of the action.
The designated batter of the puppies, Moisés Ballesteros, scratched his first running home run in Rizzo, who got on the top of the stands of stands to make a play.

Instead, Rizzo extended his hand and dropped the ball, which deviated from his hand. He was shown on television that seems to say: “That’s why I’m retired.”
Rizzo, a 14 -year -old major league veteran, said he planned to eat a hot dog, drink adult drinks and possibly throw a baseball ball in the left garden.
“I really live it,” Rizzo said.

The three times All-Star and four times winner of the Glove Gold Beat .272 with 242 homers and 784 races promoted in 10 years with the puppies. He helped the team to win the World Series in 2016 for the first franchise title since 1908.
Rizzo was changed to the New York Yankees as part of a sales sale in the 2021 trade deadline.
Rizzo and his family were visiting Chicago for the Lollapalooza Music Festival this summer when the owner of the puppies, Tom Ricketts, invited them to dinner, where they discussed the role of ambassador.

“Being exchanged was so whirlwind, heartbreaking, so many emotions and playing for the Yankees was so special to me,” said Rizzo. “I grew up a Yankees fan.
“Being invited to return here where I really created my legacy is very special for me and very humiliating.”
