It is another glorious university football on Saturday, but maybe I take a second today to remember a big football fan like you and I who can not enjoy the day with us.
Charlie Kirk.
As you do not know, we lost the influential activist and media personality this week in an act of atrocious violence during a Point USA event at Utah Valley University in OREM, Utah.

While Kirk was, of course, better known for his work in the political sphere, he was also a big sports fan, particularly a big fan of the Oregon Ducks, a fact noted by the founder of Outkick, Clay Travis.
Despite not being from Oregon, Kirk was a big fan of the Ducks and posted on that quite regularly.
In 2024, he shared a photo of himself with the then QB of Ducks and the current Denver Bronco Bo Nix, saying that he is “an incredible Christian, husband and will be an excellent NFL player.”

On Saturday, Saturday’s first university football since his death, Kirk’s ducks were on the way for a match against the Wildcats of the Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, not far from the suburbs of Chicago where he grew up.
It is not clear what his plans were, but there is no doubt that at least he would have been tune in.
Since Kirk spent a large part of his career on university campuses promoting a culture of debate and galvanization of students of related ideas, it was a bit disappointing not to see many taxes in the stadium in university football.
However, there have been many of student bodies. There is also no doubt that Kirk was in the minds of many players taking fields throughout the country this weekend, even in that Oregon costumes.

The Ducks are back at home on September 20 when they receive Oregon State Beavers at the Autzen stadium.
Who knows what the team has planned, but it seems that it is a moment as good as any other to remember a great admirer who left us too soon.
