Morgan Wallen’s concert in Pittsburgh generated an unexpected ‘rumor’: 15,000 bees swarm in the stadium

Country music superstar Morgan Wallen takes the stage at Acrisure Stadium for back-to-back performances.

But before the fans reach the stadium, the bees invade the place. Monongahela’s Fine Family Apiary was called in Wednesday to get rid of the buzzing intruders.

Company owner Al Fine, who has been removing bees for more than four decades, estimated the swarm weighed 4 to 5 pounds, which is equivalent to 12,000 to 15,000 bees.

It took the beekeepers about 90 minutes to remove them all. Warm weather conditions made removal difficult as the bees were more active.

Fine placed the swarm in a “nuclear box,” a temporary hive, and then transported all the bees to his backyard. The bees will then be moved to full-size equipment.

According to Penn State Extension, swarming is the method by which bees reproduce.

This involves the migration of the queen bee along with about half of the worker bees away from their original colony to form a new nest; They temporarily remain in groups, looking for a new place to settle.

Fine said: “Generally, when bees are in a swarm, they are pretty docile.”

Wallen will perform at Acrisure Stadium on June 5 and 6.
