Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If you are instead looking for the Thursday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Thursday, June 4 (Game #823).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.
Want more word-based fun? Then check out my NYT Connections Today and Quordle Today pages for tips and answers for those games, and Marc’s Wordle Today page for the original viral word game.
SPOILER WARNING: Today’s NYT Strands info is below, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know the answers.

NYT Strands Today (Game #824): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game #824 are…
- SCRAP
- FIGHT
- SKIRMISH
- SHOCK
- FIGHT
- CONFUSED FIGHT
- SPANGRAM: WORDS OF FIGHT
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
On their own, none of today’s words sound too disturbing, but together they make you realize how many FIGHTING WORDS we have in the English language and what that says about the countless ways we’ve found to inflict violence on each other.
A SKIRMISH, however, sounds like something most of us could handle and the world would be better off if this were the upper limit of a fight: it’s right up there with minor disputes, setbacks and what football commentators like to call “bags” (this is when two players pretend to fight but their hearts aren’t really in it).
I managed to get through without any clue, after spotting the spangram immediately. I’m guessing the topic is a meme or pop culture reference that I completely missed.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Thursday, June 4, Game #823)
- FUNNY
- EASE
- BALANCE
- APLOMB
- STYLE
- CALM
- SPANGRAM: POETRY IN MOTION
