Bhakkar:
The central leader of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Samrah Batool, was shot dead in a triple murder in the city of Mandi.
District Police officer (DPO) Shehzad Rafiq Awan said the triple murder took place in the Mandi Town area near Mill Gate.
According to reports, Samrah Batool lived independently at the time of attack.
Two men were also killed in the incident, including a man named Irfan Bhatti. The third victim has not yet been officially identified.
The initial investigations suggest that the murders were the result of a directed assault, but the exact reasons remain unknown.
The investigation teams of the forensic scene and the crime arrived at the scene, while the CCTV images of the nearby stores are being collected to rebuild the sequence of events.
Samrah Batool’s son, Yasir Abbas and his cousin Zain told the police that Irfan Bhatti had come to visit Batool in his residence. They left the house briefly to remove cash from a nearby exit.
When they returned, they found the lifeless bodies of Samrah Batool and the two men.
Based on the evidence of CCTV and the preliminary forensic analysis, the police believe that a man identified as Sanullah opened fire for the first time against Samrah Batool and Irfan Bhatti before becoming the weapon in what appears to be a double murder.
Forensic experts noticed a gunshot wound on the right side of the head of Sanullah, with burns marks around the wound consistent with a self -inflicted shot at a short distance.
The three bodies were transferred to the Hospital of the District headquarters for their post -mortem exam. Legal procedures have been initiated and the police say that all possible angles are looking for to determine the facts.
Bhakkar Dpo said that the culprits, if anyone remain in general, will be arrested within 24 hours and taken before justice.
