- Ring is rolling out a new feature to help avoid duplicate notifications
- AI Single Alert ensures that you are only notified about a particular event once
- It is available for all existing Ring doorbells and security cameras.
Have you ever been bothered by excessive notifications from your video doorbell or home security camera? Ring just launched a solution that uses AI to condense related alerts so you only receive a message when an event occurs.
In June, Ring launched Ring Video Descriptions, which uses artificial intelligence to identify what triggered your doorbell or camera and describes it using text so you can see what’s happening at a glance. If you know what’s happening and expected it, you can dismiss the notification without having to watch the recording.
These notifications are fine for something brief, like a person coming to the door or someone loitering by a window, but they’re not ideal for situations like your kids playing in the yard or a gardener trimming a hedge, which could trigger the camera multiple times.
AI Single Alert goes a step further by analyzing the video descriptions that are generated and grouping the ones that are very similar so that they don’t bother you unnecessarily.
Touch, touch…
AI Single Alert should work much better than Apple Intelligence summaries, which used to interpret multiple alerts from the Ring app to mean that there were multiple people waiting at the front door.
“When I first installed the beta, maintenance was working on my apartment for a few hours coming and going, I gasped when I looked at my phone near the end of the day and it said ’47 people are at your door,'” one Reddit user wrote. shortly after Apple’s intelligence briefings were released.

AI Single Alert is compatible with all existing Ring doorbells and cameras. It launched in the US last month and is now available to Ring Premium subscribers in the UK.
