Prince William visited the Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E team in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, on Thursday, coinciding with the eighth birthday of his youngest son, Prince Louis of Wales.

Team members welcomed the royals before beginning their tour in the trophy room, where Jaguar’s growing success in the Formula E Championship was on full display.

The tour then moved to the heart of operations, where cutting-edge technology and precision engineering drive Jaguar’s performance on race day.

William met Portuguese racing star António Félix da Costa, 2019-20 Formula E world champion.

The driver explained the details of the car, giving him information about speed, strategy and the split-second decisions that define the sport.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for: the Prince climbed into the cabin himself.

At 6-foot-4, he wasn’t exactly a perfect fit, but that didn’t stop him from getting behind the wheel and getting a feel for the tight, tech-packed space that drivers call home.

One engineer joked that only one of his current drivers, Jake Dennis, is of similar height and barely fits.

Still, William’s willingness to try earned him a lot of recognition, especially considering how physically demanding it is to get in and out of the car.

The visit also explains the broader mission behind Formula E, which combines elite motor sport with sustainability and innovation.

Jaguar TCS Racing has been at the forefront of this push, using racing as a testing ground for electric vehicle technology that may eventually influence everyday road cars.
