Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has urged his team to take inspiration from the iconic rivalry between tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer ahead of their vital Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.
The Spanish coach highlighted that facing such a formidable German team should motivate his players to improve their performance to reach a second consecutive final.
Analyzing an intense first leg match
The defending champions travel to Bavaria after a closely contested first leg that ended in a thrilling 5-4 victory for the Parisians.
The match was a chaotic spectacle in which, despite Bayern dominating possession and the constant threat of attack, the French club emerged victorious.
Doubles from Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, along with a goal from Joao Neves, surpassed goals from Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz.
The German giants created six great chances but ultimately squandered them in a breathless 90 minutes.

Finding maximum motivation in elite rivalries
Instead of feeling intimidated by the environment or the rival, the former Barcelona coach wants his team to take advantage of the big opportunity.
He drew a fascinating parallel to elite individual sports to inspire his traveling players.
“Tomorrow we are going to play in Munich to try to be more competitive than ever. Rafa Nadal said one day that at one point in his career, his confrontations with Federer and Djokovic were a motivation for him,” Enrique explained.
“That’s what we want, we admire Bayern, but it’s a motivation to be better. Tomorrow we will try to beat a team that plays sensationally.”
Keep attack intent on track
PSG have been exceptional away from home this season and the coach has no intention of simply defending their narrow lead. Expect an open and aggressive approach. Enrique stated:
“When you play these types of games, against this rival who is undoubtedly the strongest team we have faced, the first thing I want to convey is that we have a one goal advantage, but that does not represent anything in football.” Enrique said.
“We have the experience of last year. We always seek to live up to the expectations of our followers.”

What awaits Parisians?
PSG must survive this intense European test to secure a place in the grand final on May 30.
Following tomorrow’s clash, the defending champions will immediately refocus on their domestic duties and prepare to host Brest this weekend looking to conclude a very successful campaign.
