Rescuers have recovered the bodies of 11 coal miners who died after a methane gas explosion caused a mine to collapse in Balochistan, officials said Monday.
According to mine inspector Abdul Ghani, search efforts are still underway to locate the 12th miner missing since Thursday’s collapse.
In another incident, two more miners died on Sunday when another coal mine collapsed in Harnai district of Balochistan. These deaths highlight the ongoing risks faced by workers in the region’s coal mining industry.
Adding to the mining disasters, security forces recently rescued eight of the 16 mine workers who were kidnapped by militants in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat. An operation to rescue the remaining miners is still underway.
