- Network leader Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib neutralized in KP IBO: ISPR.
- He says forces destroyed underground tunnels and bunkers during the IBOs.
- Add weapons and ammunition also recovered from murdered terrorists.
Security forces killed 23 Indian-sponsored terrorists, including a network leader, during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the army’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces over the past 48 hours carried out a series of IBOs in areas of KP – Datta Khel, Spinwam and Bannu and killed 23 Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists, including the network’s leader Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib.
“During the last 48 hours, during the conduct of this series of operations, troops effectively attacked multiple khawarij locations,” the ISPR said, adding that 23 more terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij were eliminated after intense and fierce exchanges of fire.
The army’s media wing said the network’s leader, Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib, was highly wanted by the security forces and the government had fined him for his active involvement in numerous terrorist activities, including the killing of security forces personnel and innocent civilians.
The death of the network’s leader will be “a severe blow to the khawarij networks operating in these areas,” he added.
The military further said that during the clearance operations, security forces also discovered and destroyed a series of complex underground tunnels and bunkers used by terrorists.
“Weapons, ammunition, a large cache of explosives and prepared improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also recovered from slain Indian-sponsored Khawarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” the press release added.
“Sanitation operations continue to eliminate Khawarij hiding in these areas, while the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ vision (approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue in full swing to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the military said.
