Saddle up: the first full trailer for yellow stone split Dutton Ranch has been released, which you can check out below.
Now closer to landman that yellow stone in the Taylor Sheridan universe (which is also set in Texas), Dutton Ranch is clearly trying to make a clean break with yellow stoneThe complicated past. But as we can see in the new clips, the spirit of John Dutton (Kevin Costner) haunts his daughter.
Article continues below.
In our first look at the heartbreaking Dutton Ranch In the scenes, Beth admits that she misses her father, and Rip responds that “they’ve taken the best parts of him with us.”
There’s no doubt this is setting up the nine-episode series for an ongoing John Dutton subplot… but are we already overlooking the most intriguing part of what’s to come?
Annette Bening’s Beulah Jackson Could Be a Yellowstone Villain Forever in First Dutton Ranch Trailer
Look
As Paramount’s official character synopsis explains, “I saw us facing Beth Dutton’s character in the Dutton Ranch In the trailer, Beulah is the powerful, charming and cunning boss of a prominent ranch who believes in the power of family legacy.
Now let’s add this to the overall synopsis of the show. “Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton risk everything for a new life in South Texas, but the promise of building a future far from the ghosts of Yellowstone quickly collides with new realities and a rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire.”
Putting two and two together, we’re left with the assumption that Beulah heads the rival ranch in question…and judging by the above, being nice isn’t in her vocabulary.
Not only is Annette Bening an incredible actress, but I can’t remember the last time I saw her play an outright villain. If I had to confront her over an agricultural dispute, she would be more chicken than cow, that’s for sure.
Obviously, this is fantastic news for yellow stone fans that John Dutton’s legacy is moving to Dutton Ranch. But if we want to explore Beth and Rip’s new story in its entirety, we must leave the old behind and enter the new.
