- The Finnish retailer has published a release date for the RTX 5070 Ti
- Nvidia GPU supposedly arriving on February 20
- Not to mention an attached date for the RTX 5070, this could fuel other rumors that this entry-level graphics card could move to March.
Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti hasn’t been given an official release date beyond February, but one European retailer has revealed when it believes the GPU will go on sale, namely February 20.
Add your own salt now, but the retailer is Proshop in Finland (which also recently passed on alleged details about third-party RTX 5080 pricing), and it has that on-sale date for all third-party RTX 5070 Tis. Graphics cards that will sell.
With the RTX 5090 and 5080 hitting shelves on January 30, that would, in theory, mean a three-week gap between these high-end graphics cards and Blackwell’s mid-range offering going on sale.
I was expecting a smaller gap between these releases, as it’s the mid-range that I have in mind for my PC upgrade early this year. Although, as always, we should be skeptical of any retailer leak like this, as Proshop could have incorrect or outdated information, or could simply be guessing and have entered a placeholder date. And to be clear, so far Team Green has only told us that the GPU will arrive in February.
Analysis: a present date, a missing date
What’s interesting to note is that while the RTX 5070 Ti had this February 20 date attached to the GPU, the base RTX 5070 did not. Proshop has not yet set a date for this lower-tier flavor.
Does that mean anything? Well, maybe not (and we can’t even assume the date means anything for the RTX 5070 Ti either). However, by going into leniency mode here, I suppose it’s possible to read this as a hint that the RTX 5070 could be further away. If that GPU arrived before February 20, or even on that day, it seems likely that Proshop would have shown it off as well. If it is later and not yet confirmed, the retailer will simply leave it blank, as they have done.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that we just reported on a rumor that fits this line of speculation. That is to say, the RTX 5070 Ti will apparently arrive in mid-to-late February, which coincides nicely with February 20, and furthermore, the RTX 5070 may not go on sale until early March.
Of course, I think this latest rumor is still very tenuous and I strongly caution against going too far with this idea at this point. But it’s not unthinkable that the RTX 5070 could appear later than the RTX 5070 Ti, and there have been rumors in the past that that is the plan.
It’s entirely possible that Nvidia hasn’t made a final decision yet and is still waiting to make a definitive call, which is why (of course) they didn’t offer us any specific dates at CES 2025 beyond February.
Whatever the case, I expect the RTX 5070 to make the cut by the end of February, as promised, rather than moving to March (and Nvidia will surely want this too, since the latter scenario means a direct clash with the RX 9070 GPUs from AMD, instead of getting ahead of them).
